Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body announces new Chair and Deputy Chair
The ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body (ATSIEB) has today announced the appointment of Mr Maurice Walker as Chair of the Body, and Mr Bradley Bell as Deputy Chair.
Mr Walker brings a wealth of experience in representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT to his role as Chair.
‘My focus will be to bring the ATSIEB back to the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community,’ Mr Walker said. ‘I am proud to have this opportunity to lead ATSIEB during a term that will be of critical importance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT.’
Mr Bell joins ATSIEB for his first term, having previously held the role as CEO of the Ngunnawal Local Aboriginal Land Council, as well as other positions representing his community.
‘We have an excellent team elected to ATSIEB this term, each of us bringing something unique to the table,’ Mr Bell said. ‘I am looking forward to working closely with our community and my fellow members to drive outcomes for our people.’
ATSIEB would like to acknowledge outgoing Chair Ms Tanya Keed, and Deputy Chair Ms Paula McGrady for their invaluable contributions to the Body and the community.
The Elected Body is currently in the process of assigning members to ACT Government Directorate portfolio responsibilities. This will be announced in due course.
